Getting Closer Every Day!!!

It is the morning of Friday, February 3rd here in Hong Kong. We have one weekend more before we become parents! It's true! By Monday evening, we will have checked out of our current hotel, checked into the Royal Kowloon (all of 80 feet away!) with the other seven or so families in our travel group, spent another 2 days in Hong Kong touring, checked out of our hotel, traveled to Chongqing, checked into the Golden Resources Hotel, spent the day touring our daughter's hometown, and...met our daughter. That qualifies as a big weekend!!! We can't wait!!

Yesterday we went to Lantau Island and saw the "World's Largest Seated Buddha". It was amazing! It was very busy and much larger than we expected for a monestary. It was filled with people there to celebrate the New Year. We finally felt as if we had left the western world behind. We also had lunch there and while leaving we ran into another family from our agency who was here to adopt their second daughter. It really is a small world! The photo of the Buddha doesn't do it justice. It really is immense. While we were there, we took part in lighting insense for our ancestors. I thought a lot about my mom and how much she would have loved this place.

You're one day closer!!! Looks like you're enjoying yourselves and absorbing the culture while simultaneously remaining happily preoccupied. By the way, Sam really likes your hat Paul and would like to know: (to be said with an english accent)
    is it Burberry?:)
    Sending all our love,

    Hi Mary and Paul!

Mary, I have to applaude you on your assertiveness in introducing yourself to the other adopting family! It is so nice to make a connection like that so far from home. I'm sure they appreciated it too. Looking forward to news about "Gotcha Day," and of course I am enjoying all the other wonderful news in the meantime. Love, Lisa
