Friends and Family

We had a lot of fun this weekend. It started out on Friday with a visit from my friend Julie. She drove up the rain all the way from Alpine! It was great to catch up and just hang out. Joy received a lovely crocheted blanket and darling kitty outfit. She was more impressed with the bags they came in, of course!

On Friday night, while Paul babysat, I met up with some friends at Chili's for a nice little vacation from dishes and laundry. It seems like that was already a week ago. Time is funny now that we have Joy. It seems to go more slowly. I don't mean that in a bad way. Maybe I am just paying more attention to what is happening around us. I feel constantly amazed that we have a child.

Saturday started off with some fun as well. We met up with Alison, Stewart and Luke for a baby sign language class at the YMCA. It was really fun, especially this video of children signing. We were asked by our instuctor to practice only three signs: milk, eat and more. I was surprised to see Joy making the sign for milk today while she was drinking her milk. The sign is made like you are milking a cow with one hand. Now, this milk happened to be soy milk, but I guess that didn't matter!

In the evening on Saturday, we went to a 75th birthday celebration for my sister-in-law Debbie's mom. While we were there, Joy met Alyssa who is the same age. They were also the same size and weight, had the same number of teeth, are both teething! It made me feel better to see the both of them together as I was able to see how Joy compared with another baby her age. Both very much enjoyed the air hockey table! They sat on top of it and pushed those little pucks around.

Today we enjoyed a lazy morning and then met up with Sam, David and Jarrah at the Wild Animal Park. We had a great time and enjoyed seeing some animals. It was a bit of an edited trip, as we are realizing that toddlers prefer to stroll, rather than sit in tram or watch a show. We know we will get there some day. The highlights of the day were feeding the ducks and meeting the deer!

Isn't it so fun showing off the babies to friends and family?

We're always so happy when we spend time with the three of you. Looking forward to doing it again soon.

    love and smooches,
    Sam
